Oakland A's name Dennis Eckersley special assistant to president

MLB Hall of Famer and former Athletic Dennis Eckersley has been named a Special Assistant to the President, the Oakland Athletics announced today.
"We are committed to honoring, and working with, our incredible alumni. Dennis is an integral part of our history and heritage," said A's President Dave Kaval. "Dennis joins Rickey Henderson in an alumni ambassador role where he will help advise the club and represent us at community and fan events."
"It's nice to be able to reunite with the A's," said Dennis Eckersley. "I have a lot of fond memories growing up in the Bay Area and playing for the A's; they were some of the greatest years of my career. I look forward to reconnecting with the A's and the fans."
The team will also host a Dennis Eckersley bobblehead giveaway for 15,000 fans on Saturday, Aug. 26 when the A's play host to the Rangers. The bobblehead will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Eckersley's Cy Young & MVP season of 1992.
