Orioles name Minor League managers, coaches, and staff

The Orioles today announced the coaching staffs for their seven minor league affiliates for the 2019 season.
KENT QUALLS enters his seventh season with the Orioles as Director of Minor League Operations. MARIA ARELLANO enters her 14th season with the Orioles, and fifth as Manager, Minor League & International Administration. CHRIS HOLT enters his first year as Minor League Pitching Coordinator with the Orioles. He previously served as the Assistant Pitching Coordinator with the Houston Astros during the 2018 season, and as a Pitching Coach in the organization at Class A Buies Creek (2017), Class A Quad Cities (2016), and Class A Tri-City (2014-15). JEFF MANTO enters his sixth year as Minor League Hitting Coordinator. DON WERNER enters his 17th year in the organization and will return as the Minor League Catching Coordinator for the 13th season, while DAVE ANDERSON enters his fifth year with the organization and will again serve as the Minor League Infield Coordinator. CARLOS TOSCA will serve as the Outfield/Baserunning Coordinator, while also serving his role as Field Coach for the GCL Orioles. SCOTT McGREGOR enters his eighth season as the Sarasota-based Pitching Rehabilitation Coordinator. KEVIN BRADSHAW will serve as Spring Training Coordinator, along with his managerial duties at Aberdeen. DAVE SCHMIDT, in his 22nd season in the organization, will serve as the Florida and Latin America Pitching Coordinator for the Orioles. FELIPE ROJAS ALOU, JR. will return to serve as Director of the Dominican Academy. LEN JOHNSTON enters his 43rd season with the Orioles organization, serving as the Administrator of Sarasota Operations. DAVE WALKER will begin his 17th year as Minor League Medical Coordinator and 26th season in the organization. KYLE CORRICK enters his first season with the Orioles organization, serving as the Rehab Coordinator. JAKE PARKER returns as Minor League Equipment Manager for the 10th season. 
GARY KENDALL enters his first season as manager at Triple-A Norfolk and his 20th in the organization. He spent the previous eight seasons as manager at Double-A Bowie. In 2017, he led the Baysox to the playoffs for the second time in three years. He completed his time with the Baysox with a managerial record of 570-559. Kendall also skippered the Surprise Saguaros during the 2013 Arizona Fall League season, leading them to the championship. MIKE GRIFFIN will return to Norfolk as Pitching Coach for the 11th-straight season (12th consecutive season in the organization). BUTCH DAVIS enters his second season as Hitting Coach for the Tides, after spending the 2016 season in the same position with Bowie. RAMON SAMBO enters his first season as a Field Coach for Norfolk after serving as a Field Coach for Aberdeen over the last two seasons. It is his 13th overall year in the Orioles system. CHRIS POOLE returns for his second season as Norfolk's Athletic Trainer and his seventh year with the organization. TREVOR HOWELL also returns for his seventh season in the organization and sixth as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Norfolk.
Former Orioles farmhand and 2008 draft pick BUCK BRITTON enters his first season as manager of Double-A Bowie. He made his managerial debut with Class-A Delmarva last season leading the Shorebirds to a 68-66 record. The 2019 season will be Britton's third as a coach or manager in the Orioles organization after previously serving as Delmarva's Hitting Coach during the 2017 season. Britton will be joined by KENNIE STEENSTRA, who returns for his third-straight season as Pitching Coach for the Baysox, and sixth overall, after previously serving in the same role from 2010-12. It will be his 15th year in the organization. KEITH BODIE returns as Bowie's Hitting Coach for the second straight year after serving as Frederick's manager for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He previously was the Baysox Hitting Coach in 2015. This season marks his 37th season as a coach or manager in professional baseball. JOSH CONWAY will join the Baysox as a Development Coach after spending the 2018 season as an Assistant Pitching Coach at Coastal Carolina University (S.C.) where he also played from 2010-12. Conway was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2012 and pitched in the organization for four seasons (2014-17). BRIAN GUZMAN enters his second season as an Athletic Trainer for Bowie, after spending the previous three seasons with Frederick. Strength and Conditioning Coach PAT ARMSTRONG returns for his 10th year in the organization and eighth year at Bowie.
RYAN MINOR returns as the manager at Class A-Advanced Frederick, having previously managed the Keys in 2018 and 2013. He also spent six of the last eight seasons as manager of Delmarva. The 2018 season will be Minor's 12th as a coach or manager in the Orioles organization. Before joining the coaching ranks, Minor was drafted by the Orioles in 1996 and spent parts of three seasons with the club (1998-2000). Minor will be joined by JUSTIN LORD, who enters his first year as Pitching Coach for Frederick. Lord spent the last two seasons with Delmarva as Pitching Coach, his second stint in that role with the Shorebirds (also 2013). This will be his seventh season as a Pitching Coach in the Orioles organization, after serving in the same capacity for Aberdeen from 2014-16. BOBBY ROSE enters his first season as Hitting Coach for Frederick, a role he held with Delmarva last season. This is his second season in the Orioles organization after spending the previous five seasons with the Rangers organization as a hitting instructor with Short-Season A Spokane, Class-A Hickory, and Class A-Advanced High Desert and Down East. ADAM BLEDAY will join the Keys as a Development Coach, his first professional coaching role. Originally drafted by Houston in 2017, Bleday pitched in four different levels of the Astros organization during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. MARTY BRINKER enters his second season as Athletic Trainer with Frederick, after serving in the same role for Delmarva in 2017 and Aberdeen in 2015-16. GENE ESCAT returns for his third season as a coach in the Orioles organization, and his second as Strength and Conditioning Coach for Frederick. He served in the same role at Delmarva during the 2017 season. Escat was drafted by the Orioles in 2012, and spent four seasons in the organization.
KYLE MOORE will manage Delmarva this season, after managing Aberdeen during the 2018 season, filling in for Kevin Bradshaw. Moore, who begins his 10th overall season in the organization, returns to the Shorebirds after serving as their Hitting Coach in 2016. He also previously served as Frederick's Hitting Coach for the 2017 season, and half of the 2018 season, and as a player/coach with Class A Delmarva (2015), Double-A Bowie (2014), and Class A-Advanced Frederick (2013), and as the Strength and Conditioning Coach with Delmarva (2012). JUSTIN RAMSEY will join Moore as Pitching Coach for Delmarva. Ramsey has spent the last four seasons as a coach at Nova Southeastern University (FL), after serving as a coach at Long Beach State (CA) from 2010-14, and Sacramento City College (CA) from 2005-10. MATT TRATE enters his first professional coaching season as the Shorebirds hitting coach. Trate has served as an Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Goldey-Beacom College (DE) from 2016-18 after serving as the Hitting Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Cecil College (MD) (2011, 2013-14), and an Assistant Coach at the University of Akron (OH) (2012). PAT LEYLAND enters his first season as a Development Coach for Delmarva after most recently serving as a player/coach with the Baysox in 2018. He spent six seasons as a minor league player with Detroit (2010-14), and Seattle (2015) after being drafted by the Tigers in the eighth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. ADRIAN GONZALEZ enters his second season as Athletic Trainer with Delmarva after serving in the same role for Aberdeen in 2017 and the GCL in 2015-16. KEVIN MIXON will serve at the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Delmarva. Mixon served in the same role with Aberdeen during the 2018 season. 
KEVIN BRADSHAW enters his fourth season as manager of the Aberdeen IronBirds. 2019 marks his 30th season in professional baseball as a coach or manager. ROBBIE AVILES will serve as Pitching Coach. Aviles, who has been a Pitching Coach at Rockland Peak Performance since 2017, pitched in Cleveland's minor league system for six years. TOM ELLER will join the IronBirds as the Hitting Coach for his first professional coaching season. For the last 12 years, Eller has been Head Coach of the Harford Community College (Md.) baseball team. Former Orioles farmhand and 2015 draft pick JACK GRAHAM begins his first season as a Development Coach for Aberdeen after serving as the Field Coach with Frederick last season. Graham also served as a player/coach in Delmarva (2017) and Aberdeen (2016). GARY SMITH enters his second season as Athletic Trainer for Aberdeen, after holding the same position with the GCL Orioles during the 2017 season. 
ALAN MILLS enters his first season as manager for the GCL Orioles, his eighth season in the Orioles organization as a coach, and his ninth season as a professional coach. He spent the previous two years as the Orioles Bullpen Coach. Mills served as a Pitching Coach for Orioles minor league affiliates for five seasons prior to joining the Major League club in 2017, including the Baysox (2015-16), Delmarva (2014), and Aberdeen (2012-13). He began his professional coaching career in 2008 with Class-A Oneonta in the Detroit Tigers organization as a Pitching Coach. Mills pitched in 474 career Major League games over 12 seasons with the New York Yankees (1990-91), Orioles (1992-98, 2000-01), and Los Angeles Dodgers (1999-2000). Former Major Leaguer WILSON ALVAREZ returns for his seventh season as Pitching Coach for the GCL Orioles. MILT MAY will begin his 10th season as Hitting Coach for the GCL Orioles. After serving as manager of the GCL Orioles for the previous two season, CARLOS TOSCA will return to the team serving as a Field Coach. Tosca previously spent 12 seasons as a Bench Coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005-06), Florida Marlins (2007-10), and Atlanta Braves (2011-16). His managerial career also includes time as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays for parts of three seasons (2002-04). ADAM SPARKS enters his second season as Athletic Trainer for the GCL Orioles. 
ELVIS MOREL will manage the Dominican Summer League Orioles. He will be assisted by Pitching Coach DIONIS PASCUAL and coaches BENNY ADAMES (outfield), RAMÓN CARABALLO (hitting), RUBÉN FRANCISCO (first base/baserunning), MIGUEL JABALERA (field coordinator), RAMÓN LUBO (third base/catching), and ROBERT PÉREZ (bullpen). revor will again serve as Strength and Conditioning Coach.
