Padres Make Donation to Venezuelan Earthquake Relief Efforts
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres through its Padres Foundation have made a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross’ dedicated Venezuelan Earthquake Relief Fund following last week’s devastating earthquakes.
“Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela,” said Padres Chairman John Seidler. “We are privileged to be part of a community that extends well beyond this game through the shared language of baseball, and our community is in need. We offer our support to the American Red Cross’ Earthquake Relief Fund as they provide immediate assistance to those most impacted by this tragedy, and we encourage our fans to join in the relief efforts.”
The fund provides emergency medical care, food assistance, water and sanitation, shelter, protection and logistics to those impacted. Through the Red Cross’ alignment with the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Venezuelan Red Cross, they ensure funds and resources are being distributed to families and survivors who have been displaced.
The Padres encourage fans who are interested in joining the earthquake relief efforts to visit redcross.org/mlb to learn more and contribute to the relief.
