Energy Transfer steps up to support local youth in Phillies Home Run Derby program

The Phillies and Energy Transfer announced today a three-year partnership starting in the 2019 season. Energy Transfer will be the title sponsor of the Phillies Home Run Derby held in 58 locations across the state involving more than 10,000 girls and boys, ages 7-12 years old, which culminates in a championship game held at Citizens Bank Park in September.

“Providing baseball and softball opportunities for youth is a very important initiative to the Phillies,” said Jon Joaquin, Director, Youth Baseball Development, The Phillies. “We are excited to have Energy Transfer team up with us to support the Phillies Home Run Derby, a program which has been giving kids the chance to play ball for the past 49 years.”

“Energy Transfer is proud to partner with the Phillies to support the local youth in the Phillies Home Run Derby,” said Chris Curia, Executive Vice President of Energy Transfer. “We are looking forward to expanding our community outreach efforts in Pennsylvania through this and many other community partnerships across the state. Energy Transfer is committed to supporting our youth, veterans and Pennsylvania communities, which is at the heart of what we do. We look forward to the upcoming season and the opportunity to partner with the Phillies.”

The Phillies Home Run Derby presented by Energy Transfer aims to provide opportunities for Philadelphia’s youth to become engaged in baseball and softball. Since its beginning in 1971, the program has been one of the Phillies' most successful and long-running programs.
