Phillies finalize 2019 Opening Day roster

The Phillies have finalized their Opening Day roster for the 2019 regular season. The roster includes nine former All-Stars, two MVPs, one Cy Young Award winner and one Rookie of the Year Award winner. Two players (Seranthony Domínguez and Zach Eflin) are making their first major league Opening Day roster. The average age of Philadelphia’s 25-man roster is 28.5.

The Opening Day roster includes 13 pitchers, two catchers, five infielders and five outfielders.

Pitchers (13): Right-handers Jake Arrieta, Seranthony Domínguez, Zach Eflin, Héctor Neris, Juan Nicasio, Pat Neshek, Aaron Nola, Nick Pivetta, Edubray Ramos, David Robertson and Vince Velasquez, and left-handers José Álvarez and Adam Morgan

Catchers (2): Andrew Knapp and J.T. Realmuto

Infielders (5): Maikel Franco, César Hernández, Rhys Hoskins, Scott Kingery and Jean Segura

Outfielders (5): Aaron Altherr, Bryce Harper, Odúbel Herrera, Andrew McCutchen and Nick Williams

Right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter (right forearm strain) and outfielder Roman Quinn (right oblique strain) were placed on the 10-day injured list (both retro to 3/25).

The Phillies are at 40 players on their 40-man roster.
