Pirates announce Team of the Game registration is now open
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the return of the Club's "Team of the Game" initiative celebrating area youth baseball/softball teams throughout the 2018 season. The season-long initiative is an element of the Pirates PLAY BALL youth baseball/softball efforts in which the Pirates will host an area youth team each Tuesday home game throughout the season.
Youth baseball and softball organizations interested in taking part in the Team of the Game program may email the Pirates at PLAYBALL@Pirates.com and explain why their team should be a Team of the Game. All area youth baseball and softball teams, whose players are ages 18 and under, within the greater Pittsburgh area are encouraged to apply.
Throughout the season, each team selected as a Pirates PLAY BALL Team of the Game will receive complimentary tickets to a designated Tuesday game; Aramark food vouchers, and the players and coaches will be recognized on the field during pregame ceremonies with a member of Pirates management and a Pirates player.
"The Team of the Game initiative is a great way for us to connect with area youth teams and to celebrate these young men and women with a night at the ballpark watching their Major League heroes," said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. "The Pirates are committed to helping our community strengthen what is already a very strong baseball and softball culture." The first Team of the Game night will take place this Tuesday, April 17 as the Pirates will host the Brighton Heights Senior Little League at PNC Park. The Brighton Heights team won the 2017 Mayor's Cup Little League Championship in August and will be a guest of the Pirates for the 7:05 p.m. game vs the Colorado Rockies.
