Pirates sign Eric O'Flaherty to minor league contract

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed left-handed pitcher Eric O'Flaherty to a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to Major League spring training camp. The announcement was made by Pirates Executive Vice President, General Manager Neal Huntington.
O'Flaherty posted a combined 1-2 record in 41 relief appearances last season between Oakland and the New York Mets. Between 2011-14, O'Flaherty recorded a 1.54 ERA, which was the second-lowest ERA (169.0ip/29er) among relief pitchers in the Majors with at least 150.0 innings pitched.
The 31-year-old O'Flaherty has posted a career record of 22-11 with one save, a 3.24 ERA (369.1ip/133er) and 281 strikeouts in 435 relief appearances during his big league career with Seattle (2006-08), Atlanta (2009-13), Oakland (2014-15) and the New York Mets (2015).
