Pirates sign six more players from 2017 Draft

The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed the following players from the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Joe DelliCarri, Pirates Director of Amateur Scouting.
18th Round - Shea Murray, RHP, 6-6/240, Ohio State University, Assigned to GCL Pirates: Was the first player selected from Ohio State University in the 2017 draft ... Made three career appearances as a pitcher during his career at Ohio State ... Was previously selected by Texas in the 39th round of the 2015 Draft ... Was a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten in 2015 and 2016.
25th Round - Eddie Muhl, RHP, 6-4/224, George Washington University, Assigned to Bristol Pirates: Went 2-3 with 11 saves and a 3.04 ERA (47.1ip/16er) in 24 relief appearances in 2017 with George Washington University under head coach and former Pirates hitting coach Gregg Ritchie ... Ended his collegiate career as the all-time saves leader (40) and all-time single-season saves leader (17) at George Washington.
34th Round - Mason Ward, LHP, 6-4/195, Kennesaw State (GA) University, Assigned to Bristol Pirates: Went 4-2 with a 3.26 ERA (49.2ip/18er) and 40 strikeouts in nine appearances (eight starts) in 2017 with Kennesaw State.
35th Round - Drew Fischer, RHP, 6-3/205, Amherst (MA) College, Assigned to Bristol Pirates: Went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA (25.2ip/4er) and 30 strikeouts in six appearances (six starts) in 2017 as a junior at Amherst ... Became the 18th player in Amherst College history to be selected into the MLB Draft, becoming only the second true pitcher in the program to be drafted ... Posted a 3.06 ERA with 60 strikeouts in 18 appearances during his three-year career at Amherst ... Became the fourth Amherst baseball player drafted in the last seven years.
37th Round - Kyle Watson, INF, 6-3/195, University of Mississippi, Assigned to Bristol Pirates: Hit .221 with 16 doubles, four home runs and 29 RBI in his three-year career at the University of Mississippi ... Was named to the All-Tournament team for his play during the 2016 NCAA Oxford Regional.
38th Round - Ryan Peurifoy, OF, 6-2/195, Georgia Tech, Assigned to Bristol Pirates: Hit .295 (59-for-200) with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 33 RBI in 55 games in 2017 at Georgia Tech ... Ranks second all-time among outfielders in Georgia Tech history with 19 career assists.
The Pirates have now signed a total of 31 players from the 2017 draft.
