Pirates Unveil 2026 Nike City Connect Uniform

The Pittsburgh Pirates, in partnership with Nike, unveiled their 2026 City Connect uniform today, which will be worn for the first time on Friday, April 17, when the Pirates take on the Tampa Bay Rays at PNC Park. The team will wear the new uniforms for every Friday home game throughout the 2026 season.

The Nike Pirates City Connect uniform embraces the city’s unmistakable black and gold identity, celebrating a unified visual language shared across Pittsburgh’s sports culture. As a city that has the distinction of being the only one of its kind, where all the professional sports teams wear the same colors, black and gold are part of the identity that connects the Pittsburgh community.

The all-black uniforms and unique gold lettering are intentional. The uniform was made to embody the grit, toughness, and pride that define Pittsburgh and its people. The detailing is full of subtle nods to the region that is so closely connected to its baseball team. The wordmark introduces a classic, rugged pirate style that is rooted in tradition while remaining bold on the field. The base of the font design mirrors the design of the “sister bridges,” including the iconic Roberto Clemente Bridge, a primary connection from the North Shore to the city of Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is gold-blooded, as that color runs through the veins of every Pittsburgh sports fan. A sharp red accent adds a modern touch of freshness while maintaining the red bandana design on the Jolly Roger without disrupting the city’s iconic color palette. The emblem that adorns the sleeve and the hat is rooted in tradition. The logo is inspired by the history of the team, the spirit of a pirate, and the idea that we all raise the Jolly Roger together.

“We believe this collaboration with Nike captures the same intensity our fans bring to PNC Park,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “This version of our City Connect jersey is rooted in the colors that connect our city, our people, and our team. They represent the same grit as our hardworking, proud, and determined community. These are confident colors, but not arrogant ones. They reflect a city that expects to compete and expects to win. The design is simple and powerful, while the accents and details are subtle in a way that feels uniquely Pirates and distinctly Pittsburgh.”

The uniform combination will include two New Era hat variations: the primary hat is gold with a black brim, and the secondary is black with a gold brim. Each prominently displays a unique Jolly Roger logo with swords in the background to reflect the spirit of a pirate always ready for battle.

The Pirates City Connect merchandise will be available at the Pirates Fanatics Clubhouse Store at PNC Park, Nike App and Nike.com, MLBShop.com, MLB Flagship Store (NYC), and NewEraCap.com.

Nike and MLB created the program in 2021 to celebrate the bond between each club and its city. The uniform series explores the personality, values, and customs that make each community and its fans unique. This marks the second Nike City Connect jersey for the Pirates, with the first unveiled in 2023.

As with the 2023 Nike City Connect Pirates jersey, the “We Bleed Black and Gold” moniker remains, underscoring just how deep the relationship between these Pirates and the City really is.
