A’s claim INF Sheldon Neuse off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics claimed infielder Sheldon Neuse off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, the club announced today.

Neuse was traded by the A’s to the Dodgers on Feb. 12, 2021 and hit .169 with three home runs and four RBI in 33 games over two stints with Los Angeles last year. He spent the balance of the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City where he batted .293 with 13 home runs and 56 RBI in 78 games. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter was selected by Washington in the second round of the 2016 draft and was dealt to Oakland prior to the 2017 trading deadline with Blake Treinen and Jesús Luzardo for Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson. Neuse made his Major League debut with the A’s in 2019 and is a .207 hitter with three home runs and 11 RBI in 58 games over two seasons in the majors. He has a .294 career average in the minors with 62 home runs and 303 RBI in 492 games.
