A’s trade OF Dustin Fowler to Pittsburgh for cash considerations
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s traded outfield Dustin Fowler to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations, the club announced today. Fowler was designated for assignment on Monday when the A’s signed Trevor Rosenthal.
Fowler was part of the 60-man player pool in 2020 but did not play. He was originally drafted by New York (AL) in 2013 and was traded to the A’s in the Sonny Gray deal at the 2017 trading deadline. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter made his ML debut with the Yankees in 2017 but ruptured his patellar tendon in the first inning of his first game and never batted. Fowler hit .224 with six home runs and 23 RBI in 69 games with the A’s in 2018.
