Andy Pages and Yordan Alvarez Named Players of the Week

Outfielder Andy Pages of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been named the National League Player of the Week, and outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros has been named the American League Player of the Week. The announcements about the Cuban sluggers were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Pages won his second career award after previously winning on April 28^th of last season. Overall, it is the first award for the Dodgers since Mookie Betts won on September 15^th of last year and the first recognition for a Dodgers outfielder since Pages’ award last April. Alvarez earned his fourth career honor, following awards on June 6, 2022; September 19, 2022; and August 12, 2024. It is the first award for Houston since Alvarez and Alex Bregman earned co-honors in August 2024. It is the first time a pair of internationally-born players have won the award in each league since Pages earned NL co-honors with Eugenio Suárez, alongside AL-winner Jorge Polanco last April.

• The 25-year-old hit .583 (14-for-24) with two homers, seven RBI, two doubles, two walks, five runs scored, a stolen base, a .917 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage across six games.
• The La Habana, Cuba native led the Majors in batting average, hits and total bases (22); tied for the Major League lead in on-base percentage; and ranked third in slugging and OPS (1.532).
• The two-time World Series Champion racked up five consecutive multi-hit games to begin his week, going 13-for-20 during the stretch. He became the first Dodger with at least five straight multi-hit games since his teammate Shohei Ohtani from April 3-8, 2024.
• Pages homered in each of the first two games of the Dodgers’ three-game set in Washington, clubbing a two-run blast in the fourth inning on Friday, followed by a three-run homer in the fifth inning on Saturday. After adding a double in Sunday’s series finale, he became the third player this season with an extra-base hit in four consecutive games, joining Philadelphia’s Kyle Schwarber and Houston’s Christian Walker.
• Among players under the age of 26, Pages’ 50 multi-hit games since the start of 2025 are tied for second-most in the Majors, matching Kansas City’s Maikel Garcia, behind only Seattle’s Julio Rodríguez (54 G). Overall, Pages’ 174 hits since the start of 2025 are fourth-most among Major Leaguers under the age of 26, trailing Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr. (192); Rodríguez (180); and Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz (175).

• The 28-year-old hit .471 (8-for-17) with three homers, eight RBI, two doubles, seven walks, seven runs scored, a 1.118 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage across six contests.
• The Las Tunas, Cuba native led the Majors in slugging and OPS (1.733); matched Pages for the Major League lead in on-base percentage; tied for second in homers and walks; ranked third in batting average; tied for third in extra-base hits and runs scored; and tied for fourth in total bases (19).
• The three-time All-Star opened his week with three straight two-hit games, hammering a home run on Monday and Tuesday against Boston at Daikin Park. It marked the 25^th time in his career that he homered in back-to-back games and the first time since September 2024.
• The 2022 World Series Champion hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning on Friday night, marking the 500^th RBI of his career. Alvarez became the 15^th player in franchise history to record at least 500 RBI with the club and became the first MLB player since Josh Hamilton to record at least 500 RBI through his first 685 career games. Additionally, he became the 19^th Cuban-born player with 500 career RBI and just the 10^th to eclipse 170 home runs and 500 RBI.
• The 2019 AL Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award winner clubbed a homer on Sunday against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park, marking his 174^th career longball. His 174 career home runs are tied with George Springer for seventh-most in franchise history and he is now 18 homers away from surpassing Alex Bregman (191 HR) for sixth-most in franchise history.

Game-Saving Home Run Robbery by Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels

Los Angeles Angels right fielder Jo Adell earned his first career Play of the Week Award, marking the fifth honor for the Angels since the award’s inception in 2019. David Fletcher (8/17/2020) and Kevin Pillar (7/8/2024 & 8/5/2024) are the only other Los Angeles players to win the award, with the Angels also winning for a team triple play on August 21, 2023. Adell helped lift Los Angeles to a 1-0 win over the Seattle Mariners, taking away three home runs, including a home run robbery of Cal Raleigh in the third inning and Josh Naylor in the eighth inning. Adell’s award-winning catch came in the ninth inning as he tracked a flyball from J.P. Crawford towards the short wall in right field, leaping into the crowd to complete the incredible catch and keep the Angels ahead with his third home run robbery of the game. According to @SportsInfo_SIS, Adell is the first player to rob three home runs in a game since tracking began in 2004. Additional Play of the Week candidates included Blaze Alexander’s diving stop and long throw to first; Denzel Clarke’s home run robbery; Daniel Lynch IV’s all-out effort for the tag; Tanner Murray’s run-saving play; and Jake Cronenworth’s diving stop to start a double play.
