Astros announce Spring Training roster

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Astros announced their 2021 Spring Training roster today, which features a full group of 72 players, including 37 players on the 40-man roster, 33 non-roster invitees and two on the club’s restricted list. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager James Click.

Of the 72 players in Major League camp, the Astros will carry 39 pitchers, eight catchers, 12 infielders and 13 outfielders.

Three injured 40-man players will not be with the Major League team at the onset of Spring Training: RHP Josh James, RHP Austin Pruitt and RHP Justin Verlander.

The first 2021 Spring Training workout for Astros pitchers and catchers is scheduled for Feb. 18 at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches complex in West Palm Beach, FL. The first full squad workout is scheduled for Feb. 22.
