Blue Jays roll into summer with Canada Day at Rogers Centre
With the Canada Day long weekend on the horizon, summer is officially underway! Starting tomorrow, the Toronto Blue Jays square off in their first meeting against the San Francisco Giants since 2019, followed by a weekend visit from the Boston Red Sox – the first home games versus the division rival this season.
The final Blue Jays homestand before the All-Star Break features four of six games with a giveaway or theme event. Below is a snapshot of the summer fun on deck at Rogers Centre this week.
Tuesday, June 27 (7:07 p.m.), marks the fifth Loonie Dogs Night presented by Schneiders of the season. Fans have consumed 215,650 Loonie Dogs so far in 2023 and are on pace to threaten last season’s record with six nights still remaining!
On Wednesday, June 28 (7:07 p.m.), fans should arrive early to get their hands on the collectible Kevin Gausman Replica Splitter Jersey giveaway (first 15,000 fans). The jersey is an homage to Gausman’s signature pitch, as he faces off against his former club for the first time as a Blue Jay.
Spend the long weekend in the city and celebrate Canada Day at Rogers Centre on Saturday, July 1 (3:07 p.m.). The annual holiday classic includes a very special pregame ceremony in which nine new Canadians will be sworn in as citizens. Anthems will be performed by Warrant Officer David Grenon, as the iconic giant Canadian flag is unfurled by members of Canada’s Naval Reserve marking their centennial celebration, and members of the Naval Tactical Operations Group rappelling from the roof. In addition, the first 15,000 fans will receive a Blue Jays Lakeside Straw Hat giveaway, and all can enjoy live entertainment, décor, activations for all ages, and Canadian-inspired food and beverages in the Outfield District. Arrive early to enjoy the pregame ceremonies and festivities around the ballpark!
The homestand wraps on Sunday, July 2, with the third outdoor Jays Sunday of the season. Outdoor programming begins at 10:30 a.m. and runs up until first pitch and features inflatables, activities, and performances outside gates 5 to 11 along Bremner Blvd, with indoor programming starting at 11:30 a.m. In addition, kids 14 and under can run the bases postgame, and full Jr. Jays event details can be found at bluejays.com/jrjays.
