Brewers Name Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for July

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have named first baseman Blake Burke as their Minor League Player of the Month and left-handed pitcher Wande Torres as Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July.

Additionally, outfielder Brailyn Antunez was named the organization’s Complex League Player of the Month and right-handed pitcher Jesús Vásquez earned Complex League Pitcher of the Month.

Burke, 23, batted .351/.447/.935 (27-for-77) with 9 doubles, 12 HR, 32 RBI and 18 runs in 20 games for Double-A Biloxi in July. He went 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts during the month

Burke led the Southern League in RBI, slugging percentage, OPS (1.382), extra-base hits (21) and total bases (72) in July. He tied for the league lead in HR and doubles and also ranked among leaders in batting average (4th), hits (5th), on-base percentage (5th), stolen bases (5th) and runs (T6th).

Selected by the Brewers in Competitive Balance Round A (34th overall) of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee, Burke set the Shuckers single-season (29) and career (40) home run records with a pair of longballs on July 29 vs. Montgomery. He became the 17th player in Brewers Minor League history to reach 30 HR in a single season on July 31 vs. Montgomery, joining Andrew Fischer in accomplishing the feat in 2026.

Torres, 21, went 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA (24.2ip, 10er) in 5 starts for Class-A Wisconsin in July, recording 32 strikeouts with just 12 walks. He led the Midwest League in strikeouts and innings pitched and ranked fourth in ERA in July.

Signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in January 2022, Torres began the month by working 7.0 innings in consecutive starts on July 3 at Peoria (8h, 2r, 1er, 1bb, 10k, 1hbp) and July 9 vs. Beloit (1h, 0r, 8k, 1hbp).

Antunez, 18, batted .273/.388/.436 (15-for-55) with 4 doubles, a triple, 1 HR, 11 RBI, 9 runs and 2 stolen bases in 16 games for the Rookie ACL Brewers in July. He was promoted to Class-A Wilson on July 24 and batted .438/.609/.875 (7-for-16) with a double, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 5 runs and 2 stolen bases in 5 games for the Warbirds.

Antunez was signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent out of the Venezuela in January 2025.

Vásquez, 18, did not allow an earned run over 17.0 innings for Rookie DSL Brewers Blue in July, surrendering a pair of unearned runs. He posted a 0.82 WHIP and a .143 opponent batting average against (8-for-56). Vásquez was signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent out of Venezuela in November 2025.
