Cal Raleigh and Daylen Lile Named Players of the Week

Catcher Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners has been named the American League Player of the Week, and outfielder Daylen Lile of the Washington Nationals has been selected the National League Player of the Week. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Raleigh earned his third career award after previously winning twice in 2025 on June 2^nd and June 23^rd. It is the second award of the season for Seattle after his teammate Logan Gilbert won on June 22^nd, and is the first award by a Mariners position player since his own pair of awards last June. Lile garnered honors for the first time in his career, marking the fifth award of the season for the Nationals along with James Wood (April 13^th & July 13^th); Luis García Jr. (June 29^th); and CJ Abrams (July 27^th). Washington’s five awards are its most in a single season since the club also won five times in 2018.

• The 29-year-old hit .389 (7-for-18) with five homers, six RBI, a double, five walks, six runs scored, a 1.278 slugging percentage and a .522 on-base percentage across six contests.
• The 2024 Rawlings Gold Glover and AL Platinum Glove Award winner native led the Majors in slugging and OPS (1.800); tied for the Major League lead in homers and extra-base hits (6); ranked third in total bases (23); and tied for fifth in on-base percentage (.522).
• The 2025 All-Star and T-Mobile Home Run Derby Champion launched three home runs on Monday against the Phillies, marking his first career three-homer game and his 22^nd career multi-homer game. Raleigh became the second player with three homers as a catcher in franchise history, joining his manager Dan Wilson, who launched three homers on April 11, 1996 at Detroit.
• The 2025 Silver Slugger followed his performance on Monday with a home run in his first plate appearance on Tuesday, marking just the 27^th time in Major League history that a player hit at least four home runs in a two-game span while playing catcher. Raleigh became the first switch-hitting catcher with four homers in a two-game span and is the first Mariners player to accomplish the feat while playing any position since fellow catcher Kenji Johjima in June 2006.
• The runner-up for the 2025 AL MVP homered on Saturday at Toronto, marking his 19^th longball of the year. He has hit at least 20 home runs in each of his last four seasons and is aiming to become the eighth Mariners player all-time with at least 20 home runs in five straight seasons, joining Kyle Seager (8, 2012-19); Jay Buhner (7, 1991-97); Hall of Famer Edgar Martínez (7, 1995-2001); Alex Rodriguez (5, 1996-01); Raúl Ibañez (5, 2005-2013); his teammate Julio Rodríguez (5, 2022-26); and Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. (5, 1990-94).

• The 23-year-old hit .458 (11-for-24) with three homers, 10 RBI, two doubles, a triple, five walks, seven runs scored, a stolen base, a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .533 on-base percentage in seven games.
• The Louisville, Kentucky native paced the Majors in RBI; tied for the Major League lead in extra-base hits (6); ranked second in slugging, OPS (1.533) and total bases (24); tied for second in runs scored; ranked third in batting average; tied for third in hits; ranked fourth in on-base percentage; and tied for fourth in homers.
• The second-round selection in the 2021 Draft opened his week with a three-hit, five-RBI game on Tuesday against Colorado, as he came within a triple of hitting for the cycle. It marked just the fifth contest of at least five RBI and a stolen base in Nationals’ history (2005-present), with Lile becoming the second-youngest of the group to achieve the feat. Lile became the ninth different player under the age of 24 in Nationals’ history (2005-present) with at least five RBI in a game. Additionally, it was the sixth game of at least five RBI by a Nationals player this season, marking the most by the franchise since 2018 (8 G of 5+ RBI).
• The Trinity High School product followed with a homer on Tuesday and Thursday against Colorado, marking the second time in his career that he homered at least three times in a four-game span after he had four homers across a four-game stretch from May 12^th-15^th. It marked the third time in his career that he homered in consecutive games, following May 12^th-13^th and September 26^th-27^th last year.
• Lile also tallied three hits on Thursday, and he now has nine games of at least three hits on the campaign, tied for second-most on the club behind only CJ Abrams (10) and James Wood (10). His 18 games with multiple RBI are tied with Wood for third-most by a Nationals player this season, trailing only Abrams (24) and Luis García Jr. (21).

Home Run Robbery by Wade Meckler of the Los Angeles Angels

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Wade Meckler earned his first career Play of the Week Award, marking the second honor of the season for the Angels after Jo Adell garnered honors on April 6^th. Overall, it is the Angels’ sixth honor since the inception of the award in 2019 and the second time the club has won multiple awards in a single season, joining 2024. Los Angeles garnered honors on August 17, 2020 (David Fletcher); August 21, 2023 (team triple play); July 8, 2024 (Kevin Pillar); August 5, 2024 (Pillar); and April 6, 2026 (Adell). With the Angels leading 3-1 with one out in the top of the ninth inning and runners on first and second base, Bryson Stott connected on a fly ball to deep right field as Meckler made a leaping catch at the wall, nearly falling into the stands to secure the catch and take away the go-ahead homer. Additional Play of the Week candidates included Francisco Lindor’s diving catch to escape a bases-loaded jam; Cody Bellinger’s outfield assist to keep the Yankees ahead; Ozzie Albies’ game-ending diving catch; Kevin McGonigle’s diving stop and long throw to first; and Brandon Nimmo’s home run robbery.
