Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers named the National League Pitcher of the Month for July; Tyler Glasnow of the Tampa Bay Rays named the American League Pitcher of the Month for July
Right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers has been voted the National League Pitcher of the Month for July, and right-hander Tyler Glasnow of the Tampa Bay Rays has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for July.
Burnes earned his first career Pitcher of the Month Award and became the first Brewers pitcher to pick up the monthly honor since Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman in May 2009. Additionally, Burnes is the first Milwaukee starter to win the award since CC Sabathia in August 2008. Glasnow won his second career Pitcher of the Month Award after previously winning for April 2019, and he is the first Rays hurler to win since Drew Rasmussen last August.

• The 28-year-old went 4-1 with a 1.85 ERA across six starts in July. In 39.0 innings pitched, he allowed 15 hits and 13 walks with 47 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .115 batting average.
• Burnes opened his award-winning month with 7.0 strong innings during an 11-8 win over the Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, allowing two runs on one hit with two walks and seven strikeouts.
• The Bakersfield, California native fanned a season-high 13 batters in a 1-0 victory over the NL Central-rival Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on July 14th. Burnes walked two and allowed two hits across 6.0 scoreless innings in the start.
• The 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner followed in his next start with a season-high-tying 8.0 innings during a 4-0 road win over the Philadelphia Phillies on July 20th. Burnes struck out 10 and walked one while permitting two hits in the scoreless outing, which was his third start of 8.0 innings on the season.
• With the two outings of at least 10 strikeouts, the three-time All-Star extended his franchise record to 23 starts with double-digit strikeouts.
• The fourth-round pick in the 2016 Draft enters the month of August having allowed no more than two runs in six consecutive starts.

• The 29-year-old went 3-2 with a 2.11 ERA over his six starts in July. In 38.1 innings, he surrendered 26 hits and eight walks to go along with 51 strikeouts while limiting opposing batters to a .186 batting average.
• The California native closed out his award-winning month with three consecutive starts of 7.0 innings, which were his three longest outings of the season. The three-start streak of 7.0-inning starts matched the longest such run of his career (also: May 26-June 8, 2021).
• Over his final two starts of the month, which included a 4-1 victory over the visiting Miami Marlins on July 25th and a 5-1 road victory over the New York Yankees on July 31st, Glasnow combined to allow two runs on five hits with four walks and 16 strikeouts over 14.0 innings pitched.
• The fifth-round selection in the 2011 Draft has struck out at least six batters in a franchise-best 12 consecutive games to begin his season. Including his final start of 2022, he has at least six punchouts in 13 straight starts, which is now tied for the second-longest streak in Club history with teammate Shane McClanahan (May 11-July 26, 2022) behind only Glasnow’s own 17-start stretch from August 13, 2020-May 14, 2021.
• Glasnow enters play today having allowed no more than two earned runs in five straight starts, and his 2.08 ERA over his last seven starts since June 25th is tied with new teammate Aaron Civale for the second-lowest in the AL during that span behind only J.P. France of the Houston Astros (1.88).

Others receiving votes for AL Pitcher of the Month included starting pitcher Aaron Civale (3-0, 1.45 ERA, 6 GS, 37.1 IP, 23 H, 7 BB, 25 SO), who pitched for Cleveland during the month before being traded to Tampa Bay on Monday; starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen (3-1, 1.14 ERA, 4 GS, 23.2 IP, 13 H, 7 BB, 21 SO), who pitched for Detroit during the month before being traded to Philadelphia on Tuesday; rookie starter Tanner Bibee (3-0, 1.78 ERA, 5 GS, 27.1 IP, 21 H, 15 B, 22 SO) of the Cleveland Guardians; starting pitcher Logan Gilbert (4-0, 2.78 ERA, 5 GS, 1 CG, 1 SHO, 32.1 IP, 32 H, 2 BB, 28 SO) of the Seattle Mariners; rookie starter J.P.
