Chicago Cubs host Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners for five-game homestand

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs kick off Labor Day weekend with a five-game homestand at Wrigley Field with a series against division rivals the Milwaukee Brewers August 30-September 1 and an Interleague matchup against the Seattle Mariners September 2-3.

On Sunday, September 1, the Chicago Cubs will celebrate Lee Smith Day, exactly 39 years after his Major League debut, in honor of his recent induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Cubs will host an on-field pregame ceremony scheduled to begin around 12:40 p.m. CDT featuring remarks from Lee Smith, Cubs Executive Chairman Tom Ricketts, Cubs alumni and Cubs broadcaster Len Kasper. The Cubs will honor Smith by flying a flag above Wrigley Field featuring Smith’s last name and “180” for the remainder of the season to commemorate his 180 saves as a Cub and will unveil a new art installation dedicated to Smith, which will be located in the main concourse near the Marquee Gate for fans to enjoy. Smith also will throw a first pitch and lead the seventh-inning stretch with his family. Smith’s Hall of Fame plaque will be on display at Wrigley Field for fans to view until the seventh inning.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the historic 1969 team, the Chicago Cubs debuted an interactive web documentary titled “1969 Cubs” that interlaces the story of what Hall of Famer Billy Williams referred to as the “most talked about team that ever finished second” with key historical moments from the moon landing to Woodstock and more. Through historical articles, archived footage and captivating documentary-style videos that include never-before-seen interviews with beloved Hall of Famers Ernie Banks and Ron Santo, “1969 Cubs” delivers a truly immersive storytelling experience, conveyed through hand-drawn mobile animations, for fans of the team and U.S. history. Fans can experience it at www.1969ChicagoCubs.com.

Cubs fans can continue to win big while giving back to the Chicago community through the Cubs Charities 50/50 Raffle program.
