D-backs acquire Sergio Alcántara from the Cubs for cash consideration; designate Josh Vanmeter for assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired INF Sergio Alcántara (al-KHAN-ta-ruh) from the Cubs for cash consideration. To make room for Alcántara, the D-backs designated INF Josh VanMeter for assignment.

• Originally signed by the D-backs as a non-drafted free agent on July 10, 2012 and sent to the Tigers on July 18, 2017 in a trade that brought OF J.D. Martinez to Arizona.
