D-backs agree to terms with Ian Kennedy on a 1-year contract

The Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to terms with RHP Ian Kennedy on a 1-year contract with a mutual option for 2023.

• Owns a 3.98 ERA with 56 saves and 151 strikeouts (10.0 SO per 9.0 innings) in 134 games since moving to the bullpen prior to the 2019 season.

• Combined to go 3-1 with 26 saves, a 3.20 ERA (20 ER in 56.1 IP) and 62 strikeouts in 55 games with the Rangers and Phillies in 2021.

• Was 48-34 with a 3.82 ERA in 119 starts over 4 seasons with Arizona from 2010-13, including finishing fourth in the NL Cy Young balloting in 2011 after going 21-4 with a 2.88 ERA.

• In 15 Major League seasons, has gone 100-106 with 56 saves, a 4.10 ERA and 1,710 strikeouts in 424 games (290 starts) with the Yankees (2007-09), D-backs (’10-13), Padres (’13-15), Royals (’16-20), Rangers (’21) and Phillies (’21).

The D-backs’ 40-man roster is now at 39.
