D-backs sign Jake Faria; designate Ildemaro Vargas for assignment
The Arizona Diamondbacks made the following roster moves:
Signed RHP Jake Faria (fuh-REE-uh) as a free agent.
- Will wear No. 55.
- Was 3-2 with a 5.65 ERA (23 ER in 36.2 IP) and 46 strikeouts in 7 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake (Angels) in 2021.
- Released by the Angels on June 16.
- Made 49 Major League appearances (26 starts) with the Rays (2017-19) and Brewers (’19).
Designated INF/OF Ildemaro Vargas for assignment.
