Giants and Yankees Complete Trade

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees completed a trade today with LHP Henry Lalane and IF Kaeden Kent joining the Giants in exchange for OF Heliot Ramos.

Lalane, 22, was New York-AL’s fifth-ranked prospect per MLB.com. He was 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA (24er, 78.0ip), 98 strikeouts, a 1.00 WHIP and a .188 opposing batting average in 16 games (15 starts) for Single-A Tampa (13 games) and High-A Hudson Valley (three games). He was named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for the weeks of June 28 and July 5 this season and was June’s FSL Pitcher of the Month.

The Bronx, NY, native signed with New York-AL as an International free agent in May of 2021. Lalane is 10-9 with a 3.34 ERA (82er, 221.0ip), 258 strikeouts, a 1.17 WHIP and a .208 opposing batting average in 60 MiLB games (54 starts).

Kent, 22, was the Yankees’ 13th-ranked prospect per MLB.com. He was batting .302 (97x321) with 55 runs, 20 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 43 RBI, 20 stolen bases and a .792 OPS in 76 games for High-A Hudson Valley. The left-handed hitter’s 97 hits this season are tied for the sixth-most in all High-A while his .302 batting average is the seventh-highest in the league. He was placed on the 7-day Injured List on July 6 (hand).

A native of Austin, TX, Kent was the Yankees’ third-round pick in 2025 out of Texas A&M. He is the son of former Giants second baseman and 2026 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Kent.

Ramos, a 2024 All-Star with the Giants, was slashing .264/.304/.424 with 36 runs, 13 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 34 RBI and a .728 OPS in 74 games for the Giants. In parts of five seasons (all with the Giants), Ramos hit .257 with 53 home runs over 386 career games.
