Giants sign three international amateur players

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco Giants announced the signings of three international prospects today, including two from Venezuela and one from Mexico.

The 2026 signing class is highlighted by IF Luis Hernández, the top-ranked international amateur according to MLB.com.

Hernández, who will play the 2026 season at 17 years old, is a right-handed hitting shortstop from Guarico, Venezuela.

The 5’9, 175-pound Hernández played the 2025 summer season in the Venezuelan Major Leagues (Liga Mayor de Béisbol Profesional) for Los Samanes de Aragua. In 104 games for the Samanes, Hernández slashed .346/.386/.452 with 14 runs, six doubles, a triple, a home run, 16 RBI and four stolen bases while winning the league’s Rookie of the Year award. He hit .357 with a double, a home run and three RBI in the Gran Final as Aragua claimed its first title.

“We’re excited about what this group of players brings to our organization,” said Giants Senior Director of International Scouting Joe Salermo. “Luis stood out to us for his ability, character and work ethic. We’re proud to welcome him and this entire class as they begin their professional journeys with us.”
