This is the first time since April of 2016 that two Pirates minor leaguers have taken home accolades during the same month (Brandon Waddell in the Florida State League and Mitch Keller in the South Atlantic League). This is the first year Minor League Baseball has selected both a pitcher- and player-of-the-month. Previously, one player/pitcher was selected for each league.
