Player Development rehab updates

In advance of Minor League camp on Friday, we wanted to provide the following updates

RHP Daniel Espino: Daniel had not yet reached the mound as part of his build up for the 2023 season when he reported lingering shoulder soreness and swelling after a throwing session in January. After review and counsel from our physician team, results of his diagnostic work-up revealed a strain of his subscapularis and a tear of the anterior capsule of his shoulder. The plan moving forward will be for Daniel to be evaluated again in Spring Training, at the 6-week post-injury mark, to repeat ultrasound imaging and develop a plan towards his return to throw. We anticipate at least 8 total weeks of time down from throwing prior to initiating a return progression.

OF Chase DeLauter: Chase was ramping up to full-baseball activity in the offseason following left foot symptoms in the summer of 2022. However, in December, Chase reported the onset of pain in his left foot with running; imaging performed later displayed a small fracture at the base of his 5th toe. Following a consultation with his initial surgeon Dr. Robert Anderson, Anderson recommended and later performed surgery (Jan. 10) to replace his left foot screw with a bone graft in the area of the fracture. Chase is currently bearing weight in a walking boot and will have imagery performed at 10 weeks post-surgery. We anticipate a return to play timeframe of 4-5 months.
