Indians confirm signing of OF Eddie Rosario

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the signing of free agent OF EDDIE ROSARIO (#9) to a Major League contract for the 2021 season.

Rosario, 29, has spent his entire six-year career to date with the Minnesota Twins, batting .277 (738-for-2661) with 134 doubles, 22 triples, 119 home runs and 388 RBI in 697 games (.310/.478/.788) since debuting during the 2015 season. His 151 combined RBI over the last two campaigns are sixth-most in all of Major League Baseball and his 200 extra-base hits since 2017 are sixth among Major League outfielders*. He has led the Twins in RBI over each of the last three seasons and was named the club’s 2018 MVP after posting a career-best 62 extra-base hits and an .836 OPS.

Last season, the Guayama, Puerto Rico native finished tied for sixth in the American League in RBI (42), posting a team-high 10 go-ahead RBI while batting .353 (18-for-51) with RISP. His .343 mark with RISP over the last two seasons is the third-highest total in all of MLB. He drafted originally out of high school by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He is a two-time member of the World Baseball Classic Puerto Rican national team.
