Indians recall Wood; place Cole on 10-day IL

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 2019 Major League roster:

• Recalled RHP HUNTER WOOD (#54) from AAA Columbus.
• Placed RHP A.J. COLE on 10-day Injured List with a right shoulder impingement.

Wood, 25, has made a pair of scoreless relief outings for Cleveland (3.0IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 3SO) since being acquired in a July 28 trade with Tampa Bay, appearing on Aug. 5 and Aug. 7 vs. Texas. He is a combined 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA overall across 21 games/2 starts in the Majors for the Indians and Rays this season (32.0IP, 28H, 11R-8ER, 4HR, 7BB, 27SO). Wood was optioned to Columbus on Aug. 8, but did not appear in a game.

Cole, 27, has made 25 relief appearances this season out of Cleveland’s bullpen, going 3-1 with a 3.81 ERA and one save (26.0IP, 31H, 16R-11ER, 4HR, 8BB, 30SO, .290AVG.). The right-hander most recently appeared on Aug. 7 vs. Texas, tossing 2.2 scoreless frames in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Cole was claimed by the Indians off outright waivers from the New York Yankees on Jan. 11.
