Major League Baseball set to host second free Umpire Camp of 2026

Major League Baseball will host its second Umpire Camp of 2026 at First Horizon Park, the home of the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, on Saturday, June 27th. The one-day camp is free to attend and open to anyone interested in pursuing a career as a professional umpire, improving their current umpiring skills, or learning more about the umpiring profession.

Participants will work with MLB’s Umpiring Department Staff, which consists of former MLB Umpires and current MLB Supervisors, to hone the skills necessary to umpire at all levels. At the conclusion of the one-day camp, select individuals may be invited to attend the MLB Umpire Prospect Development Camp at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. This all-expenses-paid, four-week course convenes in January and provides invitees with an opportunity to compete for a position as an umpire in professional baseball.

Following a successful first camp at Oracle Park in San Francisco, Nashville marks the second of five free MLB Umpire Camps slated across the country this year. MLB Umpire Camps began in 2006 at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton, California. Current Major League Umpires Adam Beck, Nestor Ceja, Ramon De Jesus, Malachi Moore, Edwin Moscoso, and Carlos Torres all attended MLB Umpire Camps prior to reaching the Major Leagues. In addition to producing numerous Major League Umpires, these free one-day Umpire Camps held across the country now serve as the gateway into professional baseball.
