Mariners outright INF/OF Ryan Court to Triple-A Tacoma

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has outrighted infielder/outfielder Ryan Court to AAA Tacoma.

Court, 31, was designated for assignment yesterday. He appeared in 2 stints with the Mariners this season (7/26 – 8/10 and 9/1 – 9/10). He made his Major League debut on July 26 vs. Detroit and went on to hit .208 (5x24) with 1 run, 1 double, 1 home run, 5 RBI and 1 walk in 12 games with the Mariners. In his time with Seattle, he appeared defensively at first base (7 G, 1 GS), left field (3 GS, 2 G) and right field (2 GS). He spent most of the season with Tacoma, where he hit .258 (49x190) with 40 runs, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs and 48 RBI in 54 games this season. He was released by the Cubs earlier this season on March 23. After appearing in 8 games with Sugar Land of the independent Atlantic League, he signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on May 6.

Court was originally selected by Arizona in the 23rd round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Illinois State University. In parts of 8 minor league seasons with Arizona (2011-14), Boston (2016-17), Chicago-NL (2018) and Seattle (2019-c), he is batting .273 (746x2728) with 417 runs scored, 172 doubles, 21 triples, 69 home runs, 393 RBI, 41 stolen bases and 365 walks in 787 career games. Court spent the 2015 season with the Sioux City Explorers of the independent American Association.
