Michael Lorenzen of the Philadelphia Phillies and Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves named National League Co-Players of the Week presented by Chevrolet; Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros named American League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet

Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Michael Lorenzen, who tossed the 14^th no-hitter in Phillies’ franchise history, and first baseman Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves have been selected the National League Co-**Player**s of the Wee**k presented by Chevrolet, and Houston Astros infielder **Jose Altuve has been named the American League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Lorenzen earned his first career weekly honor and is the first Phillies player to take home the award since Rhys Hoskins on July 5^th of last season. Olson claimed his second career weekly honor after taking home the award on October 6^th of last season and is the fifth different Braves player to win the award this season. He joins his teammates Sean Murphy (May 8^th), Michael Harris II (June 20^th), Ronald Acuña (July 3^rd) and Austin Riley (July 24^th) as the Braves winners this season. It is the first time Atlanta history that five different players have won the award in a single season and their five awards tie Atlanta’s franchise record for a single year with the 1974, 1992 and 1993 Braves. Altuve won a Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career and first since July 10, 2017. He joins teammates Framber Valdez (August 7^th) and Chas McCormick (July 17^th) as the only Astros players to win the award this season.

• The 31-year-old All-Star right-hander tossed the 14^th no-hitter in Phillies history on Wednesday in a 7-0 win over the Washington Nationals. Lorenzen fanned five and walked four in the contest while hurling a career-high 124 pitches in the outing, which was his first home start as a Phillie.
• It was the first no-hitter by a Phillies pitcher since Cole Hamels on July 25, 2015 and the Phillies second ever no-hitter at Citizens Bank Park, joining Roy Halladay’s NLDS performance on October 6, 2010.
• Overall, it was the fourth no-hitter in the history of Citizens Bank Park, including Josh Beckett on May 24, 2015 and the Houston Astros’ combined effort on November 2^nd in Game Four of the 2022 World Series.
• The historic outing marked the first complete game of Lorenzen’s nine-year career, and the only complete game thrown by a Phillies pitcher this season.
• The California native has tossed 17.0 innings in his first two starts with the Phillies, the most innings by a Phillies pitcher through their first two starts with the franchise since Paul Byrd tossed back-to-back complete games in 1998.

Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves (@matt_olson21)

• The 29-year-old hit .400 (12-for-30) with four home runs, 10 RBI, one double, nine walks, 10 runs scored, a .833 slugging percentage and a .538 on-base percentage in eight games last week.
• The Atlanta native led the NL in on-base percentage, OPS (1.371), walks, total bases (25), and runs; tied for first in home runs; ranked second among NL leaders in slugging percentage; tied for second in RBI, extra base hits (5); third in batting average; and tied for third in hits (12).
• The two-time All-Star launched two home runs on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader with the Mets, marking his seventh multi-homer game of the season. His 20 career multi-homer games are tied for fifth-most in the Majors since his debut in 2017.
• The first baseman tallied four multi-hit games and reached base safely in each contest last week, reaching base safely at least three times in four of the contests.
• Olson has actively reached base in 19 straight games and set a franchise record with an RBI in 11 consecutive games, with the streak coming to a close in Wenesday’s game.

• The 33-year-old hit .520 (13-for-25) with one home run, six RBI, three doubles, five walks, nine runs, one stolen base, a .760 slugging percentage and a .613 on-base percentage in six games last week.
• The Venezuela native led the AL in batting average, on-base percentage, OPS (1.373), hits (13) and runs; was tied for second in walks and RBI; ranked third in slugging; and tied for third in total bases (19).
• The eight-time All-Star had multiple hits in four straight games from Wednesday through Saturday, reaching base safely in 17 of his 21 plate appearances during the stretch, including a span of eight straight plate appearances without being retired.
• The 2017 AL MVP recorded four hits on Thursday at Baltimore, including a home run and two doubles, and recorded three hits twice during the week, including Wednesday against the Orioles and Saturday against the Angels.
• He has actively reached base safely in 15 consecutive games and is batting .426 (26-for-61) with three homers, nine RBI, four doubles, one triple, six stolen bases and 18 runs scored over the stretch.

All-Star outfielder Cedric Mullins won his fourth career Play of the Week Award and third of the season, becoming the first player to win Play of the Week four times since the award was introduced in 2019. This marks the ninth Play of the Week Award overall for the Orioles since the award was introduced in 2019, the most of any Major League team. Baltimore earned its fifth Play of the Week Award for 2023, marking the most single-season honors dished out to a Club in the history of Play of the Week Award. In the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday at Seattle, Mullins leaped at the wall to bring back a potential game-tying home run for the second out of the inning. He later hit the go-ahead home run in the 10^th inning.
