Following the conclusion of tonight’s Championship Game at loanDepot park in Miami featuring a win by Team Venezuela for its first-ever World Baseball Classic title – joining three-time Champion Team Japan (2006, 2009 and 2023); Team Dominican Republic (2013); and Team USA (2017) – World Baseball Classic, Inc. tonight announced the selections of the event’s 2026 Most Valuable Player and the accompanying All-World Baseball Classic Team. The all-tournament selections were made by a global panel of broadcasters and media members who have covered the event as well as official scorers throughout the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

The Most Valuable Player of the 2026 World Baseball Classic is Venezuelan third baseman Maikel Garcia. The 26-year-old opened tonight’s scoring with a sacrifice fly in the third inning to score Salvador Perez, who hit a leadoff single. Garcia recorded seven RBI during the 2026 World Baseball Classic, tied for fifth-most, and led the tournament with 10 hits. The Kansas City Royals’ infielder became the 11th player, and first Venezuelan, to tally at least 10 hits and at least seven RBI in a single tournament. In addition, he is just the second player to reach those totals and record multiple stolen bases, joining Japan’s Tsuyoshi Nishioka, who had 11 hits, eight RBI and five stolen bases in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.
