Oakland A’s to celebrate Community Champions throughout December

OAKLAND, Calif. -- This holiday season, the A’s are celebrating the Community Champions who are making our communities brighter during a difficult year. Fans can self-nominate or nominate a person in their community who they believe has demonstrated courage, strength, and self-sacrifice while lending a helping hand in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nominations can be submitted at athletics.com/communitychampion.

The A’s will select one Community Champion each week in December, highlighting five in total, to receive recognition on the team’s social media channels. Each Community Champion will also receive a special gift from the A’s.

“This year has presented many challenges and changes to the way we live our daily lives,” said Catherine Aker, Oakland A’s Vice President of Communications and Community. “However, through all of the difficulties we’ve faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen countless ways those in our communities support one another. From the frontline workers who keep us safe and healthy, to the virtual educators and essential service employees, to the neighborhood volunteers helping to distribute meals, we are surrounded by Community Champions and we are excited to celebrate them this holiday season.”

Fans can nominate a Community Champion at athletics.com/communitychampion until Dec. 30. The A’s will select and recognize a Community Champion each week in December.
