Phillies and Nemours Children’s Health Honor Young Cancer Warriors at Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on Sunday, September 6

The Phillies and Nemours Children’s Health will host their 10^th annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on Sunday, September 6, at Citizens Bank Park, featuring heartwarming moments and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for children and families affected by cancer before and during the game against the Atlanta Braves.

The on-field tribute will begin at 12:30 p.m. and celebrate the courage, strength and resilience of childhood cancer warriors who are receiving treatment or have received care from Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, along with their families.

Also participating are children affiliated with the Kisses for Kyle Foundation, which supports families battling childhood cancer throughout the Delaware Valley. Players and other members of the Phillies family who have been personally impacted by childhood cancer will also take part.

The tribute will continue throughout the game, highlighted by a sixth-inning Go Gold moment, when fans will be invited to wave ribbon prints (distributed at the entrance gates) in support of children and families affected by cancer.

Players and on-field personnel will wear gold ribbons and wristbands to support the cause, and commemorative base jewels will be featured. Plus, children 14 and under will receive a Phillies Rope Hat, courtesy of Nemours Children’s Health.

Lineup of Courage: Children battling or who have battled cancer will line up with players for the national anthem including Lexi Johnston (10, Marlton, N.J.); Gavin McIntyre (16, Fairless Hills, Pa.), Paisley Perrone (6, Maple Shade, N.J.), Kayla Singer (11, North Wales, Pa.), James “Leo” Sturgill (8, Frankford, Del.), Carmela Tenaro (12, Upper Chichester, Pa.) and Allayah Tolliver (5, Seaford, Del.).

Ceremonial Home Run Hitter: Jeremiah Lee (4, Bear, Del.) will take a swing and “hit” a home run before rounding the bases in front of Phillies and Braves players.

Go Gold Ribbon in Center Field: Held by members of the Phillies front office and Nemours Children’s Health.

Ceremonial First Pitch: Alivia Eder (15, Newark, Del.), whose pitch will be caught by her doctor, Nemours Children’s Health pediatric hematologist-oncologist Dr. Nick Manini.

National Anthem: Sung by Arianna Barricelli (25, Bensalem, Pa.).

PhanaVision Video: How Childhood Cancer Has Affected the Phillies Family: Members of the Phillies family impacted by childhood cancer share their stories including players Bryson Stott and Trea Turner, Phillies batboy Adam Crognale, Vice President of Business Operations & Assistant General Manager Ned Rice, and Christie and Chris Phelan, parents of minor-leaguer Corey Phelan, who passed away from cancer at age 20 in 2022.
