Rangers Acquire INF Blaine Crim via Waiver Claim from Colorado

Anaheim, Calif. — The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired infielder Blaine Crim via waiver claim from Colorado and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Carter Baumler was transferred to the 60-day Injured List.

The 28-year-old Crim, who was designated for assignment by Colorado on Wednesday, has batted .265 (39-147) with 7 home runs, 6 doubles, and 35 RBI in 36 games for Triple-A Albuquerque this season, making 24 starts at first base and 12 at designated hitter. He batted .281 (18-64) with an .856 OPS over 15 games in May, hitting safely 11 of those games, including a season-high-tying 4 hits on May 2 vs. El Paso.

This marks Crim’s second stint with the Rangers organization after he spent parts of the first six seasons of his professional career (2019-25) in the Texas chain. The infielder saw his first Major League action in 2025 with Texas and Colorado, combining for a .200 (13-65) batting average with 5 home runs, 2 doubles, and 12 RBI in 20 games. He made his Major League debut with the Rangers on May 2, 2025 vs. Seattle. A native of Mobile, Ala., Crim was originally selected by the Rangers in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

Baumler, 24, was placed on the 15-day Injured List on April 5 with a right intercostal strain and has missed the Rangers’ last 42 games. The former Rule 5 selection has posted no record and a 3.18 ERA (2 ER/5.2 IP) in 4 games of Major League action this season.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP Carter Baumler and LHP’s Cody Bradford and Jordan Montgomery).
