Rangers LHP Jacob Latz Selected to A.L. Roster for 2026 MLB All-Star Game
Arlington, Texas — Texas Rangers left-handed pitcher Jacob Latz has been selected to the American League roster for the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will be hosted by the Phillies on Tuesday, July 14 at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park. Latz was selected by MLB as the Rangers’ lone representative. Final rosters for this year’s Midsummer Classic were announced tonight in a televised show on FOX.
This would be the second straight year for the Rangers to have a single All-Star, as right-handed pitcher Jacob deGrom did not appear in last year’s contest as the lone Texas representative. DeGrom’s selection last year snapped a span in which the Rangers had multiple representatives for five consecutive All-Star Games (2019, 2021-22-23-24). The 2025 contest marked the first time without a Texas player in the box score since the 2017 tilt at Miami’s Marlins Park, when lone selection Yu Darvish did not pitch.
This marks the first season to have the Rangers’ All-Star selection(s) all be Major League Baseball picks since 2022, when both left-handed pitcher Martín Pérez and shortstop Corey Seager were both added to the roster by MLB. The club had seen fan and/or player electees in three consecutive years from 2023-25.
This marks Latz’s first career All-Star selection, as he is the first Texas player to be selected to the roster for the first time since third baseman Josh Jung and catcher Jonah Heim in 2023. The last Rangers pitcher selected as an All-Star for the first time in their career was Martín Pérez in 2022. Texas pitchers have a run of 7.0 consecutive scoreless innings in the All-Star game since Matt Harrison permitted 3 runs in the 2012 contest in Kansas City.
This is the team-record seventh consecutive All-Star Game in which the Rangers have had a pitcher selected to the A.L. club (2019-21-22-23-24-25-26), surpassing the previous mark of five straight in 2010-11-12-13-14. Texas has had more pitchers selected to the All-Star Game in the past 16 opportunities since 2010 (19) than in the first 38 years of Rangers history (16). Latz is the seventh different Rangers pitcher to make the team in the past seven All-Star contests: Mike Minor in 2019, Kyle Gibson in 2021, Martín Pérez in 2022, Nathan Eovaldi in 2023, Kirby Yates in 2024, Jacob deGrom in 2025.
Latz has a 1-1 record with 18 saves, a 1.71 ERA (8 ER/42.0 IP), a 0.62 WHIP figure, .120 opponent average (17-142), and 43 strikeouts in 33 games (one start) for Texas in 2026. He leads all MLB relievers in saves of 1.1-or-more innings (9) and 2.0-or-more innings (5). Latz was voted American League Reliever of the Month for June, when he recorded a MLB-best 11 saves with a 1.13 ERA and 0.63 WHIP figure over 12 appearances. He became the first Ranger to claim the honor since MLB began awarding league Reliever of the Month distinctions in 2017. Latz was also a unanimous selection as Rangers Player of the Month for June, as his 11 saves matched a franchise record for a single month.
The 96th Major League Baseball All-Star Game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, with a national television broadcast on FOX at 7:00 p.m. CT.
