Rangers Recall LHP Adam Macko from Triple-A Round Rock, Place RHP Michel Otañez on 15-Day Injured List

Arlington, Texas — The Texas Rangers announced the following transactions prior to tonight’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Globe Life Field:

Macko, 25, is embarking on his 2nd stint with the Rangers this year, as he made 7 relief appearances for Texas from August 28-September 11. The left-hander made his Major League debut with Toronto earlier this season and was traded to the Rangers on August 3 in exchange for infielder Josh Smith and minor league right-handed pitcher Josh Stephan. In 29 total MLB appearances (one start) during his rookie season, Macko is 2-0 with a 5.65 ERA (18 ER/28.2 IP) and 30 strikeouts against 13 walks. He made one appearance for Triple-A Round Rock since he was optioned by Texas on September 12, allowing one run in 1.0 inning of work on Tuesday vs. Tacoma.

Otañez, 29, had his contract selected by Texas yesterday but did not pitch in last night’s 7-1 win over Toronto. He had spent his entire 2026 campaign with Triple-A Round Rock prior to yesterday, going 5-1 with a 4.42 ERA (27 ER/55.0 IP), 42 walks, and 74 strikeouts across 50 games/one start. This marks his first stint on a Major League Injured List since beginning the 2025 season on the Athletics’ 15-day Injured List with right shoulder impingement.

With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with six players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP’s Carter Baumler, Jose Corniell, Jack Leiter, and Cole Winn, LHP Jalen Beeks, and INF/OF Michael Helman).
