Game times announced for Texas Rangers 2021 Spring Training schedule
Arlington, TX - The Texas Rangers today announced the game times for the team’s 2021 spring training schedule, which was originally released in September.
The Rangers are scheduled to play 32 spring training games in 2021, including 30 Cactus League contests. Texas will host the Milwaukee Brewers for two exhibition games at Globe Life Field, Monday, March 29 at 7:05 p.m. CT and Tuesday, March 30 at 1:05 p.m. CT to conclude the exhibition schedule. Ticket information will be announced at a later date for those games.
The Rangers are scheduled to open the 2021 regular season in Kansas City on Thursday, April 1. Texas will play three games against the Royals before returning to Globe Life Field for the 2021 home opener on Monday, April 5 versus Toronto.
Texas will play a 30-game Cactus League spring training schedule beginning on Saturday, February 27 against Kansas City at Surprise Stadium (Rangers are road team). The Arizona portion of the schedule concludes on Saturday, March 27 versus San Diego in Surprise.
Texas’ Arizona schedule features 17 contests at Surprise Stadium/Billy Parker Field. The Rangers will be the home team for 15 of those games and will be the visiting club for two contests against the Royals. Those two teams are scheduled to play three times overall in Surprise in 2021, the opener on Saturday, February 27 at 1:05 p.m. AZ time (Royals home game), Thursday, March 4 at 1:05 p.m. AZ time (Rangers home game/Sundancers charity game), and Friday, March 19 at 1:05 p.m. AZ time (Royals home game).
All other Rangers’ home games at Surprise Stadium will start at 1:05 p.m. AZ time except for Monday, March 22 vs. Los Angeles Angels (6:05 p.m. AZ time), Thursday, March 24 vs. Cincinnati (6:05 p.m. AZ time), and Saturday, March 27 vs. San Diego (12:05 p.m. AZ time).
Information on ticket and on sale information for 2021 Texas Rangers games at Surprise Stadium will be announced as it becomes available. The Surprise Stadium Box Office will contact current season ticket holders directly when more information is available about plan options.
The City of Surprise Sports & Tourism Department is currently working to develop health and safety measures specific to the Spring Training experience after considering guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, local and international health authorities, Major League Baseball, and destination partners. These will include reduced touch points, contactless ticketing, new intensified cleaning protocols and reduced seating capacity for social distancing.

FALL DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE CONCLUDES: The 2020 Rangers Fall Development League program in Surprise, Arizona concluded last weekend. Texas finished with a 29-10-5 record over the six-week program against the Kansas City, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego, and Seattle organizations while fielding two different teams during the schedule.
Over 44 games, the Rangers produced a .259 team batting average, .356 OBP, .408 SDLG, and .764 OPS with 77 doubles, 14 triples, and 36 homers. Individual batting and pitcher leaders:

WINTER BALL UPDATE: In the early going of his 4th Dominican Winter League campaign, Ronald Guzmán has batted .375 (6-16) with 2 doubles, working 6 walks against just 3 strikeouts through 4 starts for Gigantes del Cibao. Infielder Anderson Tejeda has already produced 3 extra-base hits (2 2B, HR) in 3 starts for Tigres del Licey, launching a two-run home run from the left side in his first plate appearance of the season on Sunday. Right-handed pitcher Tai Tiedemann made his 2020 debut for Leones del Escogido on Monday and earned the win after allowing one unearned run over 2.0 hitless innings in relief. The 24-year-old walked none while racking up 4 strikeouts, including a 3-2 punch out of Guzmán in his first frame of work.
Right-handed pitchers Abdiel Mendoza and Teodoro Ortega both saw action in Béisbol Nacional Mayor, a fall tournament hosted in Panama that ran from October to mid-November. Mendoza went 1-0 in 3 scoreless starts (14.2 IP) for Herrera, finishing among tourney leaders in match play in opp. AVG (1st, .157), ERA (T1st, 0.00) and strikeouts (T2nd, 21). In 2 starts for Panama Metro, Ortega was 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA (1 ER/9.0 IP) and held opposing hitters to a .133 (4-30) batting average.
Infielder Chris Seise is set to play for Atenienses de Manatí of Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente in Puerto Rico starting later this winter. Outfielder Isaias Leon is expected to participate in the Colombian Professional Baseball League, which begins on November 28.
