Rays sign 10 international free agents

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to terms on minor league contracts with 10 international free agents: five from the Dominican Republic and five from Venezuela. The international signing period, which was scheduled to begin on July 2, 2020 but pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, opened today and ends on December 15, 2021. Among the Rays signings are two of MLB.com’s Top 20 international prospects: shortstop Carlos Colmenarez (No. 4) and outfielder Jhonny Piron (No. 17).
