Red Sox announce roster moves

The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

Boston’s 40-man roster is at 37. Ten players are already under contract for 2022: Matt Barnes, Xander Bogaerts, Ryan Brasier, Nathan Eovaldi, Kiké Hernández, J.D. Martinez, Chris Sale, Hirokazu Sawamura, Christian Vázquez, and Michael Wacha.

Brasier, 34, posted a 1.50 ERA (2 ER/12.0 IP) in 13 relief appearances for the Red Sox last season after missing the club’s first 134 games on the injured list. The right-hander did not allow a run over his final eight appearances of 2021, spanning 7.2 innings. Selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the sixth round of the 2007 June Draft out of Weatherford College, Brasier has posted a 3.39 ERA (51 ER/135.1 IP) in 141 major league appearances (one start) for the Angels (2013) and Red Sox (2018-21).
