Electric Play of the Week presented by Chevrolet

Game-Saving, Grand Slam-Robbing Catch by Jesús Sánchez of the Miami Marlins

June 14th at T-Mobile Park – Watch It Here

Outfielder Jesús Sánchez of the Miami Marlins claimed his second career Play of the Week Award (also September 27, 2021). The 25-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, who is now one of 16 players with multiple such awards, is the only Marlins player to win a Play of the Week Award since its inception in 2019. In the bottom of the ninth inning of a 4-0 game against the Seattle Mariners last Wednesday, Sánchez leaped at the right-field wall to take away what would have been a game-tying grand slam off the bat of Seattle’s Eugenio Suárez. Additional Play of the Week candidates included Luis Urias’ terrific play and long throw across the diamond at third base; Zach Neto’s jumping catch into the wall in foul territory; Mookie Betts’ impressive diving catch to keep a no-hit bid intact; Freddie Freeman’s leaping catching into the netting in foul territory; Joe Musgrove’s athletic play off the mound; and Nolan Jones’ running grab on the warning track to keep the game tied.
