Tigers Announce Go to Bat Against Breast Cancer Special $15 Ticket Sale
DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers today announced a special Go to Bat Against Breast Cancer ticket sale, during which a portion of every $15 ticket sold at Tigers.com/pink for the Friday, July 19 game vs. Toronto will be donated to the Karmanos Cancer Institute to support breast cancer research. The ticket sale allows fans to attend the eighth annual Pink Out the Park event, which brings together Tigers fans, coaches and players to raise funds and awareness for a disease that touches the lives of nearly everyone in the Detroit community.
The sale starts today and runs through Thursday, July 18 at 11:59 p.m. To get involved and purchase tickets to next Friday’s 7:10 p.m. game, fans can visit Tigers.com/pink.
Below are details about the activations, before and during the game, which stand out as some of the most powerful all season at Comerica Park.
- First 10,000 fans through the gates receive a Pink Out the Park visor, courtesy of Kroger
- On-field pregame ceremony honoring hundreds of breast cancer survivors
- Ceremonial first pitches by cancer survivors
- National anthem performed by Stephanie Samuel-Lucas, a six-time breast cancer survivor
- Pink Out the Park customizable cheer cards to be displayed by fans during a special moment of silence at the end of the fourth inning, honoring individuals in their lives who have been impacted by breast cancer
This disease is one that hits close to home to the Detroit Tigers family, with many across the organization having family, friends and loved ones impacted by breast cancer. Catcher John Hicks is serving as the club’s captain for the cause, speaking about the fight and courage that his mother, Karen Hicks, has faced during her own battle. Additionally, Anne Liddle, breast cancer survivor and wife of Tigers bench coach Steve Liddle, will serve as the team’s honorary bat girl prior to Friday’s game.
