Padres closer Trevor Rosenthal joins Baseball Assistance Team (B.A.T.) board of directors

The Baseball Assistance Team (B.A.T.) will welcome San Diego Padres closer Trevor Rosenthal to its Board of Directors. Rosenthal is joining former Manager and current Play-by-Play Analyst for the Toronto Blue Jays Buck Martinez, ESPN Analyst Eduardo Perez, MLB All-Star and current outfielder for the Nippon Professional Baseball Orix Buffaloes Adam Jones, and Los Angeles Dodgers Legend Steve Garvey, and more who are all already members of the board. In 2020, B.A.T., which is a unique organization within professional sports that is dedicated to confidentially assisting members of the _Baseball Family_, has distributed $3.8 million in grants to nearly 2,000 individuals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This game has given so much to me over the years and it is truly an honor to serve on the Board of Directors for the Baseball Assistance Team,” said Rosenthal. “Through this opportunity, I look forward to helping B.A.T. continue the work they are doing in assisting those in need in and around the game of baseball that help make our sport so great.”

Selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 21st round of the 2009 draft, Rosenthal spent six seasons with the Cardinals making the All-Star team in 2015 while setting the Cardinals franchise record with 48 saves. While in St. Louis, Trevor and his wife, Lindsey, served as co-chairs for the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, working closely with the hospital and its foundation. Originally from the Kansas City area, Trevor signed with the Royals as a free agent in January 2020 before being traded to the Padres in late August. He and Lindsey reside near St. Louis with their three daughters: Chloe, Adalyn, and Landry.

In 2019, B.A.T., a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, assisted a record number of applicants (620). To date, the organization has awarded more than $54 million in grants, benefiting nearly 7,000 members of the Baseball Family, including current and former, on-field Major & Minor League personnel (players, managers, coaches) as well as scouts, umpires, athletic trainers, Major & Minor League front office personnel, Negro League players, and players from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. B.A.T.’s coverage also extends to widow, widowers and children, ages 23 and under, of the above groups. All aid provided by B.A.T. is strictly confidential, allowing those in need to receive help discreetly.
