Twins recall Cole Sands from Triple-A St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Cole Sands from Triple-A St. Paul.

Sands, 25, has pitched in 13 games (12 starts) for the Saints this season, going 2-5 with a 5.59 ERA (48.1 IP, 30 ER), 18 walks and 61 strikeouts. The right-hander will be making his sixth stint with the Twins this season and has appeared in five games (3 starts) with Minnesota in 2022. He is currently ranked as the club’s 13th-best prospect, per MLB.com.

To make room for Sands on the 26-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Tyler Duffey for release or assignment. Duffey made 40 relief appearances for the Twins this season, going 2-4 with a 4.91 ERA (44.0 IP, 24 ER), 15 walks and 39 strikeouts.

Additionally, right-handed pitchers Jharel Cotton and Aaron Sanchez have cleared waivers and will report to Triple-A St. Paul.
