Twins recall Cole Sands

CHICAGO, IL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Cole Sands.

Sands has made 10 appearances (3 starts) for the Twins this season, going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA (26.2 IP, 20 ER), 12 walks and 27 strikeouts. In 19 games (13 starts) for Triple-A St. Paul this season, he went 3-6 with a 5.55 ERA (61.2 IP, 38 ER), 24 walks and 72 strikeouts.

To make room for Sands on the 28-man roster, the Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson. The 22-year-old made his major league debut on Sunday in Detroit, allowing three runs (2 earned) on three hits in 5.0 innings pitched, with two walks and three strikeouts.
