White Sox Announce 2024 Player Development Staff

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have announced their player development staff and assignments for the 2024 season under Paul Janish, director of player development. Janish, who was named to his current role on November 2, 2023, enters his first year overseeing the organization’s minor-league operations and player development system.

Justin Jirschele (Class AAA Charlotte), Sergio Santos (Class AA Birmingham), Guillermo Quiroz (Class A Winston-Salem), Patrick Leyland (Class A Kannapolis) and Danny González (Arizona Complex League Sox) will serve as the organization’s managers in 2024. Jirschele, Quiroz, Leyland and González all return to their managerial posts following the 2023 season. Santos joins the organization after managing two seasons in the New York Yankees system, including Class A Hudson Valley in 2023. Santos made 194 relief appearances over six major-league seasons with the White Sox (2010-11), Blue Jays (2012-14), the Dodgers (2015) and the Yankees (2015).

“I am extremely excited to work with this talented group of managers, coaches, coordinators and staff that has been assembled for the 2024 season,” said Janish. “Our entire staff has been working all off-season to ensure our players will be ready to hit the ground running for mini camps, spring training and into the regular season. The ultimate goal remains to have our players prepared and ready to contribute at the major-league level, and we believe this staff is well equipped to help all of our players reach his full potential. I am excited to get our full staff together at our complex and on the field to begin fully implementing our programs with the players in our organization.”

Coordinators returning include Doug Sisson (field), Matt Zaleski (pitching), Ryan Newman (infield) and Julio Mosquera (catching). Former White Sox major-league bullpen coach Curt Hasler joins Donnie Veal as assistant pitching coordinators.

Alan Zinter joins Chicago’s system as the new hitting coordinator, and Charlotte has added former major-league infielder and coach Pat Listach as bench coach and former Tampa Bay minor-league coach R.C. Lichtenstein as pitching coach.

Darius Day makes his professional coaching debut as the bench coach with Winston-Salem. Day is a graduate of the White Sox Amateur City Elite (ACE) program and Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, and appeared in 169 minor-league games after being selected by Texas in the 23rd round of the 2014 draft.
