White Sox announce broadcast information for the 2020 season

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox, NBC Sports Chicago, WGN Radio 720-AM and WRTO-AM 1200/Univision Radio have announced the team’s television and radio broadcast plans and information for the 2020 season.

NBC Sports Chicago and the White Sox enter the first year of a multiyear deal that makes NBC Sports Chicago the exclusive regional home of White Sox baseball. NBC Sports Chicago will televise 59 of the Sox 60 regular-season games, with FOX broadcasting the “Field of Dreams” game from Dyersville, Iowa on August 13. NBC Sports Chicago will televise 2020’s rescheduled Opening Day on Friday, July 24, when the White Sox open their 60-game schedule against the Minnesota Twins in a 7:10 p.m. game at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Jason Benetti (television play-by-play), Steve Stone (television analyst), Andy Masur (radio play-by-play), Darrin Jackson (radio analyst) and Hector Molina (Spanish radio play-by-play) make up the White Sox broadcast roster for the 2020 season. Unique for 2020, the broadcast teams will call both home and road games from their respective booths at Guaranteed Rate Field, while practicing proper social distancing protocols.

“In what will be the strangest season of my career, I could not be more excited to have the opportunity to call White Sox games during this historic 60-game sprint to the finish line,” said Benetti. “I am happy to report Steve Stone and I will be practicing proper social distancing in our booth. This will be best for our personal health, sanity and strength of our friendship.”

“Even though we will not be traveling to other cities this season, I am thrilled and ready to get back to work alongside Jason Benetti in our TV booth at Guaranteed Rate Field,” said Stone. “I could not think of anything better than being back in Chicago for the summer, calling White Sox games for our great fans, and being at least six feet away from Jason.”

Three White Sox exhibition games (July 19, July 20 and July 22) also will air live on NBC Sports Chicago. All White Sox games televised by NBC Sports Chicago, including “White Sox Pregame Live” and “White Sox Postgame Live,” will be made available to authenticated subscribers via NBCSportsChicago.com and the “MyTeams by NBC Sports” app. NBC Sports Chicago and NBC Sports Chicago Plus telecasts will be available in high definition. All out-of-market White Sox games also are available live via MLB.TV and the MLB app.

WGN Radio, entering its third year as the White Sox flagship radio station, will air all 60 regular season games. Masur and Jackson begin their first season together as the full-time broadcast team.

“Since being announced as the White Sox radio voice for the 2020 season, my excitement and anticipation has grown every single day,” said Masur. “Calling every game, both home and road, from our booth in Chicago will certainly be a challenge at times. But I am confident DJ and I will give our loyal White Sox audience a quality, entertaining and well-informed broadcast every day.”

“I am extremely excited to get back to Chicago and work alongside Andy Masur for this unique 2020 season,” said Jackson. “Initially, it will be strange not having my friend Ed Farmer in the booth with me, as well as being in Chicago when the team is on the road. I have no doubt Andy and I will work seamlessly together from Opening Day through what hopefully is a White Sox season longer than 60 games.”

WRTO-AM 1200/Univision Radio returns for its sixth consecutive year as the Spanish-language radio home of White Sox baseball. WRTO-AM will broadcast all 30 Sox home games during the 2020 season. Héctor Molina returns as the club’s Spanish-language broadcaster, calling all games from Guaranteed Rate Field.

The television schedule and broadcast networks are subject to change.
