White Sox Charities commemorates Ken “Hawk” Harrelson Hall of Fame induction with limited-edition bobblehead
CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) is honoring White Sox Hall of Fame broadcaster and 2020 Ford C. Frick Award winner Ken “Hawk” Harrelson by offering fans a limited-edition bobblehead. The exclusive collectible item will benefit CWSC and is now available for purchase, while supplies last, online at whitesox.com/hawkbobble.
The gold-toned bobblehead features the former White Sox play-by-play announcer donning a fashionably familiar cowboy hat, sunglasses and white shoes he was best known for wearing over the course of his nearly four decades in baseball. It is available for $35 each with all net proceeds benefitting CWSC. Each purchase also includes a limited-edition certificate noting the number associated with the collectible item.
Additionally, a limited supply of collectible bobbleheads will be made available for fans at Guaranteed Rate Field in Sections 154 and 535 beginning with this evening’s 7:10 p.m. game against Cleveland, while supplies last.
“Hawk’s Hall-of-Fame career extends far beyond the White Sox organization and into the homes of all those who love the game of baseball,” explains Christine O’Reilly, Chicago White Sox Charities Executive Director. “He’s been the voice to some of the greatest moments in our franchise’s history, and we’re pleased that by commemorating his illustrious career, we can provide fans an incredible opportunity to support CWSC’ commitment to give back to the community.”
A five-time Emmy Award winner, Harrelson’s trademark calls of “You can put it on the board…Yes!” and “Mercy!” are an eternal soundtrack for multiple generations of White Sox fans. On July 24 at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, Harrelson was honored alongside this year’s Frick award winner Al Michaels, the 2021 Baseball Writers’ Association of America Career Excellence Award winner Dick Kaegel and the 2020 BBWAA Career Excellence Award winner Nick Cafardo.
This is the seventh year that CWSC has held a bobblehead fundraising campaign. Previous campaigns have commemorated former team captain Paul Konerko in 2014, current reigning American League MVP José Abreu in 2015, legendary two-sport athlete Bo Jackson in 2016, Hall of Famer Tim “Rock” Raines in 2017, World Series Champion A.J. Pierzynski in 2018 and Hall of Famer Harold Baines in 2019 – raising a combined total of more than $620,000 for CWSC.
