Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros named American League Player of the Week; Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs named National League Player of the Week

Designated hitter Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros has been selected the American League Player of the Week, and center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs has been named the National League Player of the Week. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.

Alvarez earned his fifth career award and his second of the season after also winning on April 6^th. Prior to this season, Alvarez was honored on June 6, 2022; September 19, 2022; and August 12, 2024. Alvarez’s five career awards are tied with his teammate Jose Altuve for second-most in Astros’ history behind only Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell, who earned six career honors. Crow-Armstrong earned his first career honor, marking the second award for Chicago this season after his teammate Nico Hoerner won on April 20^th.

• The 28-year-old hit .476 (10-for-21) with two homers, nine RBI, a double, five walks, six runs scored, an .810 slugging percentage and a .577 on-base percentage across six games.
• The Las Tunas, Cuba native ranked second in the Majors in on-base percentage; ranked third in batting average and OPS (1.387); tied for third in RBI; and ranked fifth in slugging.
• The 2019 AL Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year racked up four hits and a pair of RBI on Wednesday against Pittsburgh, marking his 12^th career four-hit performance and his ninth career game of at least four hits and multiple RBI. His 12 career four-hit games are tied for eighth-most in franchise history.
• The three-time All-Star hammered a grand slam in the second inning on Saturday against the Athletics, marking his fifth career grand slam and his 22^nd homer of the year. His five career grand slams are tied for sixth-most in franchise history, while his 22 homers are the most in the American League this season and one behind Kyle Schwarber for the Major League lead. With the homer, the 2021 ALCS MVP passed Alex Bregman for sole possession of sixth place on the Astros’ all-time home run list (192 HR).
• The 2022 World Series Champion tallied three RBI on Tuesday against Pittsburgh, followed by a two-RBI game on Wednesday and a four-RBI game on Saturday. His 541 career RBI are 12^th-most in Astros’ history and six shy of passing Ken Caminiti for sole possession of 11^th-most all-time.

Pete Crow-Armstrong, Chicago Cubs (@petecrowarmstrong)

• The 24-year-old hit .440 (11-for-25) with four homers, six RBI, a walk, four runs scored, two stolen bases, a .920 slugging percentage and a .481 on-base percentage across six contests.
• The Sherman Oaks, California native led the Majors in slugging and total bases (23); tied for first in homers; ranked second in OPS (1.401); tied for fourth in hits; and tied for fifth in batting average.
• The 2025 All-Star racked up four hits and blasted a pair of game-tying homers on Saturday against San Francisco, launching solo shots in the sixth and ninth innings en route to the Cubs’ Major League-leading eighth walk-off win of the season. He became the eighth Cub (ninth occurrence) in the Divisional Era (since 1969) to hit multiple game-tying home runs in a single game and first since Anthony Rizzo in 2017. Additionally, the contest marked his fifth career game with four hits, and second of the season (also: May 30^th vs. STL).
• The 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner recorded his first career walk-off hit on Thursday night against the Athletics, roping a walk-off single to cap off Chicago’s six-run comeback and four-run bottom of the ninth. He also hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to break up the A’s shutout bid, and along with his two-run blast on Wednesday, it marked the eighth time in his career that he homered in back-to-back games.
• The 19^th overall pick in the 2020 Draft (by NYM) has hit safely in 12 consecutive games since May 26^th, marking the longest hitting streak of his career. During the streak he is slashing .392/.456/.745 with five homers, nine RBI and a 1.201 OPS.

**Barehanded Stop and Off-Balanced Throw by* Miguel Rojas of the Los Angeles Dodgers*June 5^th at Dodger Stadium – Watch It Here

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas earned his first career Play of the Week Award, marking the sixth award for the Dodgers since the inception of the award in 2019. Rojas is the fifth Dodgers player to garner the honor, joining two-time winner Mookie Betts (8/3/2020 & 4/19/2021); Chris Taylor (8/10/2020); AJ Pollock (8/30/2021); and Justin Turner (7/18/2022). With no outs in the top of the third inning, Nick Madrigal hit a ball back towards Roki Sasaki, who deflected it on the mound as Rojas, who was playing second base, chased down the deflection and in a single motion made a barehanded catch and an off-balance throw to record the out as a fully-extended Freddie Freeman received the throw.
