Rays Acquire Outfielder Jack Suwinski from Dodgers
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired outfielder Jack Suwinski and international bonus pool space from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for catcher Hunter Feduccia and minor league right-handed pitcher Jacob Kmatz.
Suwinski, 28, has appeared in 93 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season after being claimed by the Dodgers off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Feb. 21, 2026. He has slashed .291/.386/.562 (99-for-340) with 25 doubles, two triples, 21 home runs, 72 RBI, 52 walks, five stolen bases, and a .948 OPS. He ranks highly among Pacific Coast League hitters in slugging percentage (second), home runs (tied for second), extra-base hits (tied for second), doubles (tied for third), RBI (fourth), total bases (fourth), OPS (tied for fourth), and runs (tied for fourth).
In four major league seasons with the Pirates from 2022-25, he played in 397 games and hit .199 (233-for-1,170) with 47 doubles, two triples, 57 home runs, 148 RBI, and 33 stolen bases. He was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 15th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Taft High School (Ill.) and acquired by the Pirates on July 26, 2021, in a four-player trade.
Feduccia, 29, has appeared in 60 games for the Rays this season and hit .234 (33-for-141) with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, 12 RBI, and a .646 OPS. The backstop was acquired from the Dodgers on July 31, 2025, for right-handed pitcher Paul Gervase, left-handed pitcher Adam Serwinowski, and catcher Ben Rortvedt. He was selected by the Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University.
Kmatz, 23, has gone 5-2 with a 2.89 ERA (53.0 IP, 17 ER), eight saves, three holds, 74 strikeouts, 10 walks, and a 0.92 WHIP over 33 minor league outings this season between Double-A Montgomery (15 appearances) and Class-A Bowling Green (18 appearances), earning a June 9 promotion. He was selected by the Rays in the fifth round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Oregon State University.
