Red Sox Announce Additions to Major League Coaching Staff
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following changes to their 2026 Major League coaching staff:
Nelson Paulino has been named Interim Hitting Coach.
Drew Ehrhard will serve as Interim Bullpen Catcher.
Paulino, 53, is in his 29th season with the Red Sox organization. He has served as Single-A Salem’s hitting coach since 2021, his third stint with Salem after also serving as a hitting coach in 2013 and from 2016-18. The Dominican Republic native was High-A Greenville’s hitting coach from 2014-15 and in 2019. He joined the organization as a scout from 1998-2000 and held roles with the Dominican Summer League Red Sox as a hitting coach (2001-02, 2008-11), manager (2003-06), and bench coach (2007). Paulino was also a hitting coach for Single-A Lowell in 2012. He played four minor league seasons as an infielder in the Atlanta Braves farm system from 1991-94.
Ehrhard, 27, was signed by the Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent in July 2023 and hit .233 (75-for-104) in 322 career minor league games. The Florida native played in 11 games for Double-A Portland this season before retiring from playing.
